ZR basically means the tire is adapted for speeds above 149mph. Nowadays the marking ZR is not relevant anymore but it is still used in the catalogues. The speed rating system was developed to help control the safe performance of tires at standardized speeds.

A tires certified speed rating is given a letter from A to Z ranging from 5kmh 3mph to above 300 kmh 186 mph. Sports cars will often get the best handling with these tires. Primarily you should avoid mixing different tire brands and different tread patterns.

Depends on what your vehicle allows for fitment. For tires having a maximum speed capability above 300 kmh 186 mph a ZR must appear in the size designation.
